Description

Honey Garlic Chicken is a delicious and easy-to-make dish with tender chicken coated in a rich, sticky honey garlic sauce. The perfect balance of sweet and savory, this dish is a great choice for weeknight dinners or special occasions.

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (or thighs/drumsticks)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (for cooking)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar (or rice vinegar)
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for a little heat)
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper on both sides.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the chicken breasts and cook for 6-7 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through (the internal temperature should reach 165°F or 74°C). Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly to avoid burning. Add honey, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, and red pepper flakes (if using). Stir and let the sauce simmer for 2-3 minutes until it thickens slightly.
  4. Return the cooked chicken to the skillet, coating it in the sauce. Let the chicken simmer in the sauce for another 2-3 minutes, basting it with the sauce as it cooks.
  5. Remove from heat and garnish with fresh parsley. Serve immediately with your choice of side dishes.

Notes

  • For a spicier version, increase the amount of red pepper flakes or add chopped fresh chili peppers to the sauce.
  • Serve with steamed rice, mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, or a green salad for a complete meal.
  • To make the sauce thicker, allow it to simmer longer or add a cornstarch slurry to the sauce.
  • If you want a richer flavor, substitute tamari for soy sauce for a gluten-free version.
