Description

Looking for a simple, hearty, and flavorful meal? Try Ground Beef and Chopped Cabbage! This one-pan dish is packed with savory ground beef, tender cabbage, and a mix of seasonings that come together for a deliciously comforting meal. Perfect for busy weeknights, this low-carb, budget-friendly dish is both nutritious and satisfying.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef (or ground turkey/chicken for a leaner option)

  • 1 medium head of cabbage, chopped

  • 1 medium onion, chopped

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 tsp smoked paprika

  • 1 tsp ground cumin

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

  • 1/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional for heat)

  • 1/2 cup beef broth (or water)

  • 2 tbsp soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)

  • Fresh parsley or cilantro for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet or pan over medium heat.

  • Add the chopped onion and garlic to the skillet and sauté for 2-3 minutes until fragrant and softened.

  • Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spoon. Cook for 5-7 minutes until browned and cooked through.

  • Stir in the smoked paprika, cumin, salt, black pepper, and crushed red pepper flakes (if using), and mix to coat the meat evenly in the spices.

  • Add the chopped cabbage to the skillet, stirring to combine with the ground beef.

  • Pour in the beef broth and soy sauce, then cover the skillet. Cook for 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is tender but still slightly crisp.

  • Taste and adjust seasoning with more salt, pepper, or soy sauce if needed.

  • Remove from heat, garnish with fresh parsley or cilantro, and serve warm.

Notes

  • This dish can be made ahead and stored in the fridge for up to 3 days, making it great for meal prep.

  • For a more filling meal, serve over rice, quinoa, or with a side of bread.

  • Feel free to add other vegetables like carrots, bell peppers, or zucchini for extra nutrition and flavor.
