Description

This grilled brown sugar-mustard chicken is smoky, juicy, and full of flavor. A sweet and tangy glaze made with brown sugar and Dijon mustard caramelizes beautifully on the grill, making it the perfect summer dinner or backyard BBQ recipe.

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (or thighs)
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 3 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar (or lemon juice)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  • Preheat grill to medium-high heat (about 400°F / 200°C). Lightly oil the grates.

  • In a small bowl, whisk together brown sugar, Dijon mustard, olive oil, vinegar, garlic, paprika, salt, and pepper.

  • Place chicken in a shallow dish or zip-top bag and pour half the marinade over it. Reserve the other half for basting. Marinate for at least 20 minutes (up to 2 hours).

  • Grill chicken for 6–8 minutes per side, basting occasionally with the reserved marinade, until internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).

  • Remove from grill, let rest for 5 minutes, then garnish with parsley before serving.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, marinate the chicken overnight.

  • Pairs well with grilled vegetables, potato salad, or corn on the cob.

  • Can be cooked on a stovetop grill pan if outdoor grilling isn’t available.
