Description

A classic Italian-American gluten-free lasagna featuring tender gluten-free noodles layered with a rich, savory meat sauce and creamy cheese mixture, baked to perfection for a comforting, hearty main dish.

Ingredients

Gluten-Free Lasagna Noodles

  • 12 gluten-free lasagna noodles

Meat Sauce

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 jar marinara sauce (about 24 oz)
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Cheese Mixture

  • 1 container (15 oz) ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 large egg

Instructions

  1. Cook noodles: Cook the gluten-free lasagna noodles according to the package instructions until al dente, then drain and set aside.
  2. Prepare meat sauce: In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef with diced onion and minced garlic until the meat is fully cooked and the onions are translucent. Drain excess fat, then stir in the marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes to blend flavors.
  3. Mix cheese filling: In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, shredded mozzarella, grated parmesan, and the egg. Mix thoroughly until smooth and uniform.
  4. Assemble lasagna: In a baking dish, spread a thin layer of the meat sauce. Layer with cooked gluten-free noodles, followed by a layer of the cheese mixture, then more sauce. Repeat layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with a top layer of sauce and an extra sprinkle of mozzarella or parmesan if desired.
  5. Bake: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Cover the baking dish loosely with foil and bake for 35–40 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the lasagna is heated through.
  6. Rest before serving: Remove from oven and let the lasagna rest for 10 minutes before slicing. This helps it set and makes for easier serving.

Notes

  • Let the lasagna rest 10 minutes before slicing to help it set.
  • For dairy-free options, substitute cheeses with plant-based alternatives.
  • Use gluten-free noodles labeled suitable for boiling to ensure texture and safety.
  • Season sauce to taste, adjusting salt and Italian seasoning as preferred.
