Ingredients
- 2 cups water
- 2 black tea bags or 2 tablespoons loose black tea
- 1 cup milk (dairy or plant-based)
- 1/4 cup molasses
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Whipped cream for garnish (optional)
- Ground cinnamon or nutmeg for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Bring water to a boil in a medium saucepan, remove from heat, and steep tea bags or loose tea for 5-7 minutes. Remove tea bags or strain leaves.
- Stir in molasses, brown sugar, ground ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and cardamom until dissolved.
- Warm milk in a separate small saucepan over low heat until hot but not boiling.
- Slowly whisk warm milk into the spiced tea mixture until smooth and frothy. Stir in vanilla extract.
- Pour into mugs and optionally top with whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon or nutmeg.
- For a chilled version, let cool to room temperature, refrigerate, and serve over ice with a cinnamon stick garnish.
Notes
- Use almond, oat, or soy milk for a vegan version.
- Add a pinch of black pepper or extra ginger for an extra spicy kick.
- Substitute molasses and brown sugar with gingerbread syrup for convenience.
- Mix with sparkling water instead of milk for a fizzy, refreshing variation.
