Description

Tender and flavorful French Onion Meatballs slow-cooked in a rich onion gravy, perfect for effortless weeknight dinners or delicious appetizers.

Ingredients

Meatballs and Gravy

  • 1 bag (32 oz) frozen meatballs
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 packet onion soup mix
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 2 tbsp butter

Topping

  • 1 cup shredded Swiss cheese

Instructions

  1. Prepare onions and butter: Add sliced onions and butter to the crockpot, spreading evenly to form the base of the dish.
  2. Add meatballs: Place the frozen meatballs on top of the onions and butter layer in the crockpot.
  3. Mix broth and soup mix: In a separate bowl, whisk together the beef broth and the onion soup mix until well combined.
  4. Pour mixture over meatballs: Pour the broth and soup mix evenly over the meatballs in the crockpot.
  5. Slow cook: Cover and cook on Low for 6 hours or on High for 3 hours, allowing the meatballs to absorb the rich flavors and become tender.
  6. Add cheese and melt: Stir the meatballs and onion mixture gently, then sprinkle shredded Swiss cheese over the top. Cover and cook for an additional 5-10 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
