Description
A creamy Cajun-style pasta inspired by Pappadeaux’s restaurant favorite, featuring tender chicken and shrimp in a rich, spicy sauce served over fettuccine or penne pasta.
Ingredients
Pasta
- 8 oz fettuccine or penne pasta
Protein
- 1 chicken breast, sliced
- ½ lb shrimp, peeled
Sauce & Seasoning
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 cup heavy cream
- ½ cup parmesan cheese
- 1 tbsp Cajun seasoning
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt & pepper to taste
Garnish
- Parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Cook Pasta: Cook the pasta according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- Cook Chicken: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced chicken breast and cook thoroughly until no longer pink in the center. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
- Cook Shrimp: In the same skillet, cook the peeled shrimp until they turn pink and opaque, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove and set aside with chicken.
- Sauté Garlic: Add minced garlic to the skillet and sauté briefly until fragrant, about 30 seconds to 1 minute, being careful not to burn it.
- Prepare Sauce: Pour in the heavy cream and stir in the Cajun seasoning. Let the mixture simmer gently for 2-3 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
- Add Cheese: Stir in the parmesan cheese until the sauce is smooth and creamy.
- Toss Pasta & Protein: Add the cooked pasta, chicken, and shrimp to the skillet. Toss everything together until well coated with the sauce and heated through.
- Garnish & Serve: Garnish with chopped parsley and serve immediately while hot.
Notes
- Substitute sausage for shrimp if you prefer a different protein.
- Adjust the amount of Cajun seasoning to suit your preferred spice level.
- Use gluten-free pasta to make the dish gluten free.
- For a lighter version, replace heavy cream with half-and-half or evaporated milk, keeping in mind texture differences.
