Description

A creamy Cajun-style pasta inspired by Pappadeaux’s restaurant favorite, featuring tender chicken and shrimp in a rich, spicy sauce served over fettuccine or penne pasta.

Ingredients

Pasta

  • 8 oz fettuccine or penne pasta

Protein

  • 1 chicken breast, sliced
  • ½ lb shrimp, peeled

Sauce & Seasoning

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • ½ cup parmesan cheese
  • 1 tbsp Cajun seasoning
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt & pepper to taste

Garnish

  • Parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cook Pasta: Cook the pasta according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. Cook Chicken: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced chicken breast and cook thoroughly until no longer pink in the center. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Cook Shrimp: In the same skillet, cook the peeled shrimp until they turn pink and opaque, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove and set aside with chicken.
  4. Sauté Garlic: Add minced garlic to the skillet and sauté briefly until fragrant, about 30 seconds to 1 minute, being careful not to burn it.
  5. Prepare Sauce: Pour in the heavy cream and stir in the Cajun seasoning. Let the mixture simmer gently for 2-3 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
  6. Add Cheese: Stir in the parmesan cheese until the sauce is smooth and creamy.
  7. Toss Pasta & Protein: Add the cooked pasta, chicken, and shrimp to the skillet. Toss everything together until well coated with the sauce and heated through.
  8. Garnish & Serve: Garnish with chopped parsley and serve immediately while hot.

Notes

  • Substitute sausage for shrimp if you prefer a different protein.
  • Adjust the amount of Cajun seasoning to suit your preferred spice level.
  • Use gluten-free pasta to make the dish gluten free.
  • For a lighter version, replace heavy cream with half-and-half or evaporated milk, keeping in mind texture differences.
