Description

This Easy Cinnamon Bread Recipe is a perfect balance of sweetness, warmth, and comfort. With a tender crumb and cinnamon sugar swirl, it’s ideal for breakfast, dessert, or a simple snack.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter, softened
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk (or milk)
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon (for the swirl)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a loaf pan with butter or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon. Set aside.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy (about 3-4 minutes). Add the egg and vanilla extract, and beat until well combined.
  4. Gradually add the buttermilk (or milk) to the wet mixture, mixing until smooth.
  5. Slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  6. In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar and 1 tablespoon of cinnamon for the swirl.
  7. Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Sprinkle half of the cinnamon sugar mixture on top. Add the remaining batter, then sprinkle the rest of the cinnamon sugar mixture. Use a knife or skewer to gently swirl the cinnamon mixture into the batter.
  8. Bake for 55-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. If the top of the bread starts to brown too quickly, cover it loosely with aluminum foil and continue baking.
  9. Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely. Slice and enjoy!

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add raisins, chopped nuts, or chocolate chips to the batter.
  • For an extra sweet touch, drizzle a glaze made of powdered sugar and milk over the cooled bread.
  • For a vegan version, substitute the butter with vegan butter or coconut oil, and use a flax egg (1 tablespoon ground flaxseed + 3 tablespoons water) instead of the egg. Use plant-based milk for buttermilk.
  • For apple cinnamon bread, add finely chopped apples to the batter for a fruity twist.
