Chocolate Mousse Brownies are an indulgent dessert that combines rich, fudgy brownies with a layer of light and creamy chocolate mousse, creating the ultimate chocolate lover’s treat.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional)
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (for mousse)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease or line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- In a medium saucepan, melt butter over low heat. Remove from heat and stir in sugar, eggs, and vanilla.
- Beat in cocoa, flour, salt, and baking powder until well combined. Fold in chocolate chips if using.
- Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 20–25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs. Let cool completely.
- For the mousse, heat 1 cup of heavy cream in a small saucepan until just about to boil. Remove from heat and stir in 1 cup chocolate chips until smooth.
- Let chocolate mixture cool to room temperature. In a separate bowl, whip remaining cream until stiff peaks form.
- Gently fold whipped cream into the cooled chocolate mixture until fully combined and fluffy.
- Spread mousse evenly over the cooled brownies. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours or until set.
- Cut into squares and serve chilled.
Notes
- Use high-quality chocolate for a richer flavor.
- Top with shaved chocolate or cocoa powder for a decorative finish.
- Brownies can be made a day ahead and stored in the refrigerator.
