Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 3 ripe bananas, mashed
- 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup melted butter or oil
- 2/3 cup sugar (brown or white)
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet or dark)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a loaf pan or line it with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
- Combine wet ingredients. In a large bowl, mix together the mashed bananas, eggs, vanilla extract, and melted butter or oil until smooth and well combined.
- Add sugar. Stir in the sugar thoroughly to blend it with the wet mixture.
- Mix dry ingredients and fold in. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, and optional cinnamon. Gradually add these dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, folding gently until just combined to avoid overmixing.
- Add chocolate chips. Stir in the chocolate chips, reserving a few to sprinkle on top of the batter.
- Pour batter and top. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and evenly sprinkle the reserved chocolate chips on top for a decorative, melty finish.
- Bake the bread. Bake in the preheated oven for 50 to 60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with just a few moist crumbs attached.
- Cool and serve. Let the bread cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before slicing and serving. This helps it set and makes slicing easier.
Notes
- Use mini chocolate chips for more even distribution throughout the bread.
- You can substitute 1/2 cup of the all-purpose flour with almond or whole wheat flour for a different texture or flavor.
- Ensure bananas are overripe (with brown spots) for the best natural sweetness and flavor.
