Description

Moist, rich, and full of melty chocolate chips, this classic Chocolate Chip Banana Bread is a family favorite perfect for breakfast, dessert, or snacking. This easy-to-make loaf combines ripe bananas with chocolate chips and warm spices for a comforting treat that’s delicious any time of day.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup melted butter or oil
  • 2/3 cup sugar (brown or white)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet or dark)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a loaf pan or line it with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  2. Combine wet ingredients. In a large bowl, mix together the mashed bananas, eggs, vanilla extract, and melted butter or oil until smooth and well combined.
  3. Add sugar. Stir in the sugar thoroughly to blend it with the wet mixture.
  4. Mix dry ingredients and fold in. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, and optional cinnamon. Gradually add these dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, folding gently until just combined to avoid overmixing.
  5. Add chocolate chips. Stir in the chocolate chips, reserving a few to sprinkle on top of the batter.
  6. Pour batter and top. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and evenly sprinkle the reserved chocolate chips on top for a decorative, melty finish.
  7. Bake the bread. Bake in the preheated oven for 50 to 60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with just a few moist crumbs attached.
  8. Cool and serve. Let the bread cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before slicing and serving. This helps it set and makes slicing easier.

Notes

  • Use mini chocolate chips for more even distribution throughout the bread.
  • You can substitute 1/2 cup of the all-purpose flour with almond or whole wheat flour for a different texture or flavor.
  • Ensure bananas are overripe (with brown spots) for the best natural sweetness and flavor.
