Description

These air fryer cheese puffs are crispy on the outside, light and fluffy on the inside, and bursting with cheesy flavor. Perfect as a snack, appetizer, or side dish, they cook up quickly in the air fryer with minimal oil.

Ingredients

For the Cheese Puffs:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or any cheese of your choice)

  • 1/2 cup milk

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1 tsp baking powder

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder (optional)

  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted

For Serving (optional):

  • Sour cream

  • Chopped chives or parsley

Instructions

  • Prepare the Cheese Puff Batter:

    • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, garlic powder, and pepper.

    • Add the shredded cheese and mix to coat the cheese in the dry ingredients.

    • In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs, milk, and melted butter together until smooth.

    • Combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients and stir until you form a thick batter.

  • Preheat the Air Fryer:

    • Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 5 minutes.

  • Shape the Cheese Puffs:

    • Using a spoon or your hands, scoop small portions of the batter (about 1 tablespoon each) and roll them into balls.

    • Place the cheese puffs on a parchment paper-lined tray or directly in the air fryer basket, making sure they’re spaced apart.

  • Cook the Cheese Puffs:

    • Air fry the cheese puffs at 375°F (190°C) for 8-10 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until they’re golden brown and puffed up.

  • Serve:

    • Remove the cheese puffs from the air fryer and let them cool for a minute or two.

    • Serve with sour cream or a sprinkle of chopped chives or parsley for extra flavor.

Notes

  • You can experiment with different types of cheese, such as mozzarella, Parmesan, or a cheese blend.

  • Make sure the cheese puffs are not overcrowded in the air fryer basket to ensure they cook evenly.
