Ingredients
Rustic Bread:
- 4 slices rustic bread (sourdough or country loaf)
Ricotta Cheese:
- 1 cup ricotta cheese (fresh, whole milk)
Fresh Figs:
- 6–8 fresh figs (halved)
Unsalted Butter:
- 1 tbsp unsalted butter
Brown Sugar:
- 1 tbsp brown sugar (or honey)
Balsamic Vinegar:
- 1 tsp balsamic vinegar (optional, for depth)
Honey:
- 2 tbsp honey (for drizzling)
Thyme or Mint Leaves:
- Fresh thyme or mint leaves (for garnish)
Sea Salt:
- Pinch of flaky sea salt
Instructions
- Toast bread: Lightly toast bread slices until golden and crisp. Set aside.
- Caramelize figs: In a skillet over medium heat, melt butter. Add figs, cut side down, sprinkle with brown sugar, and cook for 3–4 minutes until softened and caramelized. Deglaze with balsamic vinegar if using.
- Assemble toast: Spread a generous layer of ricotta onto each slice of toast.
- Top: Arrange caramelized figs over ricotta. Drizzle with honey and sprinkle with thyme or mint.
- Finish: Add a pinch of flaky sea salt. Serve immediately.
