Description

Caprese Dip is a fresh and flavorful twist on the classic Caprese salad, combining the bright and tangy flavors of tomatoes, basil, and mozzarella in a creamy, dipable form. This dip is perfect for serving at parties, gatherings, or as an appetizer for a casual meal. With its creamy base, topped with juicy tomatoes, fresh basil, and a balsamic drizzle, this Caprese Dip is both refreshing and indulgent—an easy-to-make dish that brings all the fresh flavors of summer into one bowl.

Ingredients

  • 8 oz fresh mozzarella balls (bocconcini or ciliegine), drained and chopped
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar or balsamic glaze
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the ingredients: Drain the fresh mozzarella balls and chop them into bite-sized pieces. Halve the cherry tomatoes and chop the fresh basil leaves.
  2. Make the creamy base: In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, sour cream, mayonnaise, olive oil, salt, and pepper. Use a hand mixer or whisk to blend until smooth and creamy.
  3. Assemble the dip: Add the chopped mozzarella, halved tomatoes, and fresh basil to the creamy mixture. Gently fold the ingredients together, being careful not to break up the mozzarella too much. Taste and adjust seasoning with additional salt or pepper, if needed.
  4. Drizzle with balsamic: Transfer the dip to a serving bowl and drizzle with balsamic vinegar or balsamic glaze for a touch of sweetness and acidity.
  5. Serve: Serve the Caprese Dip immediately with crackers, crostini, fresh vegetables (like cucumber or carrots), or toasted baguette slices for dipping.

Notes

  • Variations: Add garlic, roasted tomatoes, or even pine nuts for texture. For a vegan version, substitute cream cheese with cashew cream and use vegan mozzarella.
  • Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Add balsamic glaze right before serving to keep it from becoming watery.
  • Serving ideas: Serve with fresh vegetable sticks like cucumbers, carrots, or bell peppers for a healthier alternative to bread and crackers.
