Ingredients
Chicken
- 2 chicken breasts
- Salt & pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Toppings & Garnish
- 2 slices fresh mozzarella
- 1 tomato, sliced
- 2 tablespoons balsamic glaze
- Fresh basil leaves
Instructions
- Season the chicken: Pat the chicken breasts dry and season both sides generously with salt and pepper to enhance the flavor.
- Heat the skillet: Place a skillet over medium heat and add the olive oil, allowing it to warm until shimmering but not smoking.
- Cook the chicken: Add the chicken breasts to the hot skillet and cook for 6 to 7 minutes on each side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) and the chicken is golden brown.
- Add toppings and melt cheese: Place a slice of fresh mozzarella and tomato slices on each chicken breast. Cover the skillet with a lid and let cook for a couple of minutes until the cheese melts.
- Finish with glaze and basil: Drizzle the balsamic glaze generously over the chicken and tomatoes. Sprinkle fresh basil leaves on top for a burst of aroma and flavor before serving.
Notes
- Add a spoonful of pesto over the chicken for an extra layer of Italian flavor.
- Serve alongside a fresh green salad or your favorite pasta to complete the meal.
- Ensure to cover the skillet when melting the cheese to help it soften quickly and evenly.
