This Big Mac Casserole brings all the iconic flavors of the classic Big Mac sandwich into a cheesy, tangy, and satisfying casserole dish. Ground beef and onions are cooked together and mixed with pickles and Thousand Island dressing, then topped with shredded cheddar and baked to bubbly perfection. Finished off with fresh shredded lettuce and more dressing, this casserole captures the Big Mac experience without the bun, making it a comforting and hearty meal.
Ingredients
Meat Mixture
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- ½ cup pickles, chopped
- ½ cup Thousand Island dressing
Toppings
- 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
- 3 cups shredded lettuce
- ½ cup Thousand Island dressing (remaining half)
- 1 sesame seed bun (optional, torn up for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to get it ready for baking the casserole later.
- Cook beef and onions: In a skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef and chopped onion until fully cooked and the onion is softened. Once done, drain off any excess fat.
- Mix in pickles and dressing: Stir the chopped pickles and half (½ cup) of the Thousand Island dressing into the browned beef and onion mixture until evenly combined.
- Assemble casserole: Transfer the beef mixture into a casserole dish, spreading it out evenly. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the top to cover the surface.
- Bake: Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Add toppings and serve: Remove the casserole from the oven and top with shredded lettuce. Drizzle the remaining Thousand Island dressing over the top. If using, scatter torn pieces of the sesame seed bun on top for that extra Big Mac texture and flavor. Serve warm.
