Description

Beef with Creamy Rice is a hearty, comforting dish combining tender beef with creamy rice in a savory sauce. It’s the perfect meal for busy weeknights or cozy family dinners, with rich flavors and a creamy texture that everyone will love.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef (or stew beef, diced into bite-sized pieces)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium onion (diced)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 cup long-grain white rice (or your preferred rice)
  • 2 cups beef broth (or chicken broth)
  • 1 cup heavy cream (or half-and-half for a lighter option)
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce (optional for extra flavor)
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet or Dutch oven, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the beef, season with salt and pepper, and cook for 5-7 minutes until browned. Remove the beef and set aside.
  2. In the same skillet, add the diced onion and cook for 3-4 minutes until softened. Add the garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
  3. Add the rice to the skillet and stir to combine. Toast the rice for 2-3 minutes to bring out its flavor.
  4. Pour in the beef broth, heavy cream, soy sauce (if using), thyme, rosemary, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine and bring the mixture to a simmer.
  5. Cover the skillet and reduce the heat to low. Let the rice cook for 15-20 minutes, or until tender and the liquid is absorbed. Add more broth or water if necessary to prevent the rice from drying out.
  6. Once the rice is cooked, return the beef to the skillet and stir to combine. Simmer for another 5 minutes to combine the flavors and heat everything through.
  7. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot.

Notes

  • For a spicier version, add chili flakes or diced jalapeños while cooking the onions and garlic.
  • If using brown rice, adjust the cooking time and liquid as it requires more time to cook.
  • Substitute the beef with ground turkey or chicken for a lighter version.
  • This recipe can be made dairy-free by using coconut cream or a dairy-free cream alternative.
