Description

This beef stir-fry with colorful veggies is a quick, healthy, and flavorful dish packed with tender beef strips and vibrant vegetables tossed in a savory sauce.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 yellow bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 cup broccoli florets
  • 1 medium carrot, julienned
  • 1/2 red onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Sesame seeds and green onions for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, toss the beef strips with soy sauce, cornstarch, and a pinch of pepper. Let marinate for 15 minutes.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat. Add the beef and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until browned. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add the remaining oil. Add garlic, ginger, and onion, and stir-fry for 1 minute.
  4. Add the bell peppers, broccoli, and carrots. Stir-fry for 3–4 minutes until vegetables are tender-crisp.
  5. Return the beef to the skillet. Add oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, and water. Toss everything together and cook for another 2–3 minutes until heated through and well coated.
  6. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Remove from heat.
  7. Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions if desired. Serve hot with steamed rice or noodles.

Notes

  • Slice beef thinly against the grain for tenderness.
  • Use any combination of colorful vegetables like snap peas, zucchini, or mushrooms.
  • Make it spicy by adding chili flakes or sriracha.
  • Prepare all ingredients before starting to cook, as stir-fry goes quickly.
