Ingredients
- 1 ½ cups (180g) all-purpose flour, spooned and leveled
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup (1 stick / 115g) unsalted butter, melted and cooled slightly
- ¼ cup (60mL) vegetable oil
- ¾ cup (150g) granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs, at room temperature
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 1 ½ cups (360g) mashed ripe bananas (about 3–4 medium-sized bananas)
- 1 cup (170g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter, vegetable oil, and granulated sugar until smooth. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Fold in the mashed bananas and mix until fully incorporated.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- Gently fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top. Bake for 60-70 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean or with just a few crumbs attached.
- Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely. Slice and enjoy!
Notes
- For extra crunch, add ½ cup of chopped walnuts or pecans to the batter.
- For a spiced twist, add ½ teaspoon of cinnamon or nutmeg to the dry ingredients.
