Description

Banana Chocolate Chip Bread is a moist, flavorful treat made with ripe bananas and semi-sweet chocolate chips, offering the perfect balance of sweetness and richness. Ideal for breakfast, dessert, or a snack.

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups (180g) all-purpose flour, spooned and leveled
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup (1 stick / 115g) unsalted butter, melted and cooled slightly
  • ¼ cup (60mL) vegetable oil
  • ¾ cup (150g) granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ cups (360g) mashed ripe bananas (about 34 medium-sized bananas)
  • 1 cup (170g) semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter, vegetable oil, and granulated sugar until smooth. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Fold in the mashed bananas and mix until fully incorporated.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  6. Gently fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top. Bake for 60-70 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean or with just a few crumbs attached.
  8. Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely. Slice and enjoy!

Notes

  • For extra crunch, add ½ cup of chopped walnuts or pecans to the batter.
  • For a spiced twist, add ½ teaspoon of cinnamon or nutmeg to the dry ingredients.
  • Swap semi-sweet chocolate chips for milk chocolate or dark chocolate chips for a different flavor profile.
