Description

A rich wheel of Brie baked to gooey perfection, topped with sweet fig jam and crunchy nuts, making an elegant and impressive appetizer that’s simple to prepare and perfect for any gathering.

Ingredients

Cheese

  • 1 wheel Brie cheese (8 oz / 250 g)

Toppings

  • 3 tbsp fig jam
  • 2 tbsp chopped pecans or walnuts

Optional

  • 1 sheet puff pastry (optional for wrapping)

For Serving

  • Crackers or sliced baguette

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for baking the Brie.
  2. Prepare Brie: Place the wheel of Brie cheese on a parchment-lined baking sheet to prevent sticking and for easy cleanup.
  3. Add toppings: Spread the fig jam evenly over the top of the Brie, then sprinkle the chopped pecans or walnuts on top to add texture and flavor.
  4. Bake Brie: Bake the topped Brie in the oven for 10 to 12 minutes until the cheese is soft and molten, perfect for dipping.
  5. Optional puff pastry wrapping: If desired, wrap the Brie in a sheet of puff pastry for a golden, flaky crust and bake for an extended 20 to 25 minutes until the pastry is puffed and golden brown.
  6. Serve: Serve the baked Brie immediately with crackers or sliced baguette for dipping and spreading.

Notes

  • Substitute honey or apricot preserves for fig jam to vary the sweetness and flavor profile.
  • Add a sprig of thyme on top before baking to infuse a subtle herbal aroma.
