Description

A creamy, chocolatey mousse made entirely from avocados for a healthier, dairy‑free indulgence.


Ingredients

  • 2 ripe avocados
  • ½ cup (≈2 oz) bittersweet or dark chocolate, melted
  • ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ¼ cup plant‑based milk (like almond milk)
  • 2 Tbsp maple syrup (or alternative liquid sweetener)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. In a food processor or blender, combine the avocado flesh, melted chocolate, cocoa powder, milk, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and salt.
  2. Blend until completely smooth and creamy, stopping to scrape down sides as needed.
  3. Divide the mousse into four serving dishes.
  4. Chill for at least 1 hour to reach a firmer, mousse‑like texture.
  5. Serve chilled, optionally topped with fresh berries, whipped cream, or chopped nuts.

Notes

  • Use very ripe avocados for the silkiest texture; you shouldn’t taste the avocado at all.
  • Warming the milk slightly prevents the chocolate from seizing when blended.
  • This mousse stores well covered in the fridge for up to 4–5 days; it can also be frozen—but thaw thoroughly and stir before serving.
  • Variations: add a hint of espresso, a dash of mint extract, or swirl in nut butter for flavor variations.
