Description
A creamy, chocolatey mousse made entirely from avocados for a healthier, dairy‑free indulgence.
Ingredients
- 2 ripe avocados
- ½ cup (≈2 oz) bittersweet or dark chocolate, melted
- ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- ¼ cup plant‑based milk (like almond milk)
- 2 Tbsp maple syrup (or alternative liquid sweetener)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- In a food processor or blender, combine the avocado flesh, melted chocolate, cocoa powder, milk, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and salt.
- Blend until completely smooth and creamy, stopping to scrape down sides as needed.
- Divide the mousse into four serving dishes.
- Chill for at least 1 hour to reach a firmer, mousse‑like texture.
- Serve chilled, optionally topped with fresh berries, whipped cream, or chopped nuts.
Notes
- Use very ripe avocados for the silkiest texture; you shouldn’t taste the avocado at all.
- Warming the milk slightly prevents the chocolate from seizing when blended.
- This mousse stores well covered in the fridge for up to 4–5 days; it can also be frozen—but thaw thoroughly and stir before serving.
- Variations: add a hint of espresso, a dash of mint extract, or swirl in nut butter for flavor variations.
